Backroads Tour, Franklin to Lawrenceburg
Meet at Publix, 2020 Fieldstone Parkway, Franklin (corner of US 431 Hillsboro Rd. and Fieldstone Pkwy), north side of Franklin.
Assemble at 9:00am for 9:15 departure.
Will take two-lane backroads, primarily Leiper's Creek Road and Cross Bridges Rd., plus some four-lane US 43
Pit stop near Summertown. Stop in Ethridge (Amish area). End at David Crockett State Park Restaurant for lunch (about 11:45).
We will traverse areas ranging from flourishing rural developments to more rugged, undeveloped areas to prosperous farm country.
The Ethridge stop will be to point out the Amish stores. You may stay and visit/shop, or visit on your way home.
The lunch will be served family-style. We understand if you are not comfortable with this and prefer to get your own lunch at a Lawrenceburg restaurant.
There are no modern convenience stores until the Summertown stop (1 1/2 hours), so make sure you potty and gas up before we depart. The park contains a covered bridge on a side road. This might make a good photo op for you and your car (if it isn't busy).
